This post is the #100th post on Pokewalls!
Bulbasaur, it bears the seed of a plant on its back from birth. The seed slowly develops. Researchers are unsure whether to classify Bulbasaur as a plant or animal. Bulbasaur are extremely calm and are difficult to capture in the wild.
– Ash’s Pokedex
To celebrate the #100th post of Pokewalls, I made Bulbasaur, the first Pokemon in the National Pokedex.
Bulbasaur is one of my favourite Grass starters, yet it’s always been overshadowed by Charmander and Squirtle in the Kanto set. Even though we can’t catch starters in the game, in the anime, Ash somehow managed to catch one. Ash’s Bulbasaur is a peacemaker, and it has refused to evolve. Even now, it’s still a Bulbasaur.
Stat-wise, Bulbasaur has high Sp Attack and Sp Defense, and low Speed. I had a Bulbasaur in HeartGold, his name is Butch, he helped me fight through Misty’s gym, because I had no Pokemon that could take out Misty’s Quagsire.
Despite the popularity of Grass/Poison types, Bulbasaur is the only Grass/Poison starter.
