Smeargle, the Painter Pokémon. Colored fluids ooze from their tails which they use to mark their territory and to express themselves.
– Ash’s Pokedex
Smeargle is a unique Pokemon. It can learn almost every Pokemon move through its signature move, Sketch, which it learns every 10 levels. The only moves Smeargle can’t learn are Chatter and Struggle. Appearance-wise, it’s based on a beagle painter, using its tail as a paintbrush.
Because it can learn almost every move, Smeargle can have some very unique movesets. I’ve never raised a Smeargle, but I have fought a Smeargle before. It had Spore, Substitute, Belly Drum, and Baton Pass, a pretty potent moveset if used correctly. That Smeargle used Spore to put me to sleep, then Substitute, Belly Drum, and Baton Passed to Scizor, who used Bullet Punch (priority move) to sweep. I was saved by Snow Cloak on Froslass, and managed to take out Scizor.
Anyway, although Smeargle can have almost every moveset you want, its stats aren’t that great, with only 250 base stat total. Its Attack and Sp Attack are pretty low, so unless it’s boosted, attacking moves won’t really do much. I think it’s mostly used for support (see above).
