Minun, the Cheering Pokémon. Minun cares more for its teammates than for itself, sending off showers of sparks while cheering them on.
– Ash’s Pokedex
Minun is one of Gen III’s cute rodent-based electric Pokemon. Gen III is all about counterpart Pokemon, since it introduced double battle, and Minun is one of those, with Plusle being its counterpart. Plusle and Minun look similar enough to be related, but they’re not. Minun’s ability Minus (which was exclusive to Minun until Gen V), works with Plusle’s ability Plus in double battles (boosts Sp Attack by 50%). I’ve encountered NPCs doing double battle with Plusle and Minun, and laugh when both Pokemon used Helping Hand.
Minun’s stats aren’t great. It has decent Speed and Sp Attack (especially if boosted by Minus) but poor Defense and HP. Though it does learn great stat-boosting attacks like Nasty Plot and Agility, along with Baton Pass. So it could be a good support (Baton Pass) Pokemon, if it can survive long enough (maybe with Substitute, statused opponent, or Reflect/Light Screen up). In Gen V, Minus’s effects are changed to work with other Pokemon with Minus as well (even though minus and minus should repel XD).
