#37 Vulpix

Vulpix, a Fox Pokémon. Its six tails are extremely beautiful. As it evolves, it grows even more tails.
– Ash’s Pokedex

Vulpix is the counterpart Fire type to Growlithe, usually a version exclusive. Whereas Growlithe is 75% male, Vulpix is 75% female. In fact, Vulpix and Ninetales are the only Fire types where females outnumber males. Vulpix is the only non-Ghost type to learn Grudge and Will-o-Wisp by level-up.

In the anime, Brock had a Vulpix, though it wasn’t his, he was taking care of it for a friend, and in the end, gave it back to her.

Stat-wise, Vulpix has good Speed and Sp Defense. Its ability Flash Fire grants immunity to Fire type moves. It (and Ninetales) gets Drought from the Dreamworld, which makes it a lot more useful competitively. Vulpix is able to learn Energy Ball, being one of the few Fire Pokemon that can learn a Grass move that’s not Solar Beam. In Gen IV, it learned it by breeding, but cannot learn it by TM for some reason, in Gen V that has been fixed. Though with its Drought ability, Solar Beam becomes more useful than Energy Ball.

In order to befriend a Vulpix from the Dreamworld, you need at least 10000 Dream Points (which you get by playing with Pokemon, water other people’s berries, logging on, etc). I grinded the Dreamworld for the points DX I have met a couple of Vulpixes (Vulpices? XD), but both of them for some reason were male (only the female can pass down the Dreamworld ability by breeding), even though Vulpix is 75% female…

      1. I would have to pay a fee to decal girl of $19.99 for a custom skin to be made for myself, is that still ok?
